The Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) is offering a 40-day training program in 2025 for people from developing countries who are interested in deep-sea exploration for cobalt-rich ferromanganese crusts.  The programme will be delivered through a combination of lectures, field trips, and work on a research vessel at-sea. ​ Applicants must have a degree in science or engineering with at least one year of experience. The programme covers travel, meals and accommodation.  JOGMEC is encouraging women to apply. The application deadline is November 27th, 2024.​

POGO is offering early-career scientists, technicians and students from developing countries the chance to apply for shipboard training fellowships throughout the year. This open call allows them to be included in a database for quick consideration when short-notice training opportunities arise.

2-13 June 2025 | Antwerp, Belgium
The Cook Islands Investment Corporation (CIIC) is offering two training spots in a dredging technology seminar for people from developing countries who are members of the International Seabed Authority (ISA). The seminar will be held in Antwerp, Belgium in June 2025 and will cover the latest dredging techniques and environmental management practices. Applicants must have a technical degree, preferably in marine engineering, be proficient in English, and be a citizen of a developing ISA member country. CIIC will cover all training costs and successful graduates will receive a certificate. Applications open now and close on December 8th, 2024. CIIC is particularly encouraging women to apply.​

The SCAR Ant-ICON and SC-ATS are offering fellowships for early and mid-career researchers to engage in Antarctic policy-making. Selected fellows will attend key Antarctic policy meetings, contribute their research expertise, and work with experienced mentors. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience, network with policymakers, and influence the future of Antarctic conservation.

  • Young Explorers is a program that gives students ages 18-24 the opportunity to embark on an immersive multi-day experience onboard the OceanXplorer.  Through workshops, hands-on activities, and independent study, Young Explorers acquire knowledge and skills in marine science, vessel operations, and digital media storytelling from world-class experts.
  • ​Early Career Explorers is a program tailored for professionals aged 25+ with less than five years of experience. This multi-day, at-sea experience helps participants build support networks, expand their knowledge of ocean exploration methods, and strengthen their advocacy skills for ocean conservation.
